WHAT IS DENTAL BRIDGE?

Fixed Replacement For Missing Teeth

A bridge is a way of utilising a false replacement tooth in the space where a real tooth used to be. A bridge literally bridges the gap for aesthetics and function.

During your visit to VICI Dental, if you need a tooth replacement, we take the time to discuss all of our available dental treatments with you.

TYPES OF BRIDGES

Preserve Your Natural Smile With Bridges

Bridges generally fall into two categories:

1.Winged Bridges
A winged bridge is an artificial tooth with a slight wing that is bonded to adjacent teeth and is relatively non-invasive.

2. Bonded Bridges
A bonded bridge requires more tooth preparation. The neighbouring teeth/tooth needs to be reduced in size for a crown-like application to be bonded onto the tooth – think of a thimble on a finger. The crown has the false tooth attached, which sits snugly into the space of the missing tooth.

TREATMENT BENEFITS

What are the benefits of dental bridges?

Patients tend to like dental bridges because they are cost-effective dental restorations that can restore the appearance and functionality of many teeth at once. Other benefits of dental bridges include:

DENTAL BRIDGES

What do bridges look like?

A life-like porcelain bridge looks very similar to your natural teeth. The materials used will vary depending on the type of bridge. They are made in a specialist dental laboratory by highly skilled dental technicians. The bridges take two weeks to make, and you will have a temporary bridge in place whilst this takes place.

There are alternatives for a replacement tooth. The closest option to real teeth is a dental implant. Another alternative is a removable denture.

FAQs

Dental Bridges FAQs

We can use Dental Implants to replace one or several adjacent missing teeth. Larger gaps created by two, three or more missing teeth do not necessarily need an individual implant for each tooth. We can fit three or four teeth on a bridge supported by two Dental Implants.

If you’re missing more than one consecutive tooth, a dental bridge is likely a better option than an implant. A separate implant needs to be surgically attached to your jawbone for each missing tooth, leading to expensive and often impractical surgery.

The bridge procedure is not painful because a local anaesthetic is used while paring your teeth and when your dentist takes an impression. It is often unnecessary to take any pain relief after the treatment.

It is normally not difficult to eat with a dental bridge, particularly if the bridge is fixed and not removable. This type of dental bridge is sealed to the support teeth, which are connected to the fake tooth (crown).
